Sometimes a long bumpy stroller ride will calm down a fierce crying bout. If the sun is out, take the opportunity to see the world and go for that (probably) much-needed walk. If you absolutely must, bring a cell phone with you, but a break from that will probably do you good, too. (Grandma can catch up on news of her little woo gums an hour later.) With our oldest son, there were days when it was just too cold to bundle up and go outside. We would race the stroller down the main hallway of our townhouse, do a hairpin turn and race back the other way, first going the left way around the dining table, then the right way. This system mattered a great deal to him at the time, and although he denies it now, he must have had his reasons.
