An impossible question to answer! It depends on the couple’s age, their health, the time at which they have intercourse and their emotional state .
Some women have been doubtful about the effect of the Pill method of contraception, some of them believing that a woman is extra fertile after stopping the Pill, others that it takes some time for the Pill to ‘get out of the system’.
In fact neither is proven to be true. Some women do ovulate very rapidly after ceasing to use the Pill, while others do not re-establish ovulation for some little time.
This could be coincidental, and could be due to the woman’s basic constitution rather than to the use of the Pill. It is not possible to know.
Most experts on the Pill are sure that it does not damage fertility, but say that in a very few rare cases the use of a fertility drug may be needed to restore normal ovulation and period rhythm after prolonged use of the Pill.
