I went to the Doctor this morning to have an ultrasound done to see how big Anja is and to see if she had turned head-down yet. She is head down and her growth spurt seems to have stopped. I'm really hoping that she is about as large as she's going to get before birth. The Doctor is estimating her to be 6.5 lbs right now.

Stem cells in the bone marrow continue to produce red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets to maintain a healthy immune system, but there is not really any development remaining for arms, legs, brain or organs. Your baby will simply continue to grow in size as it readies for its big debut.

His or her facial features are almost fully developed and synchronizing enough that he or she may make faces that are visible on an ultrasound. Your baby’s skin is becoming thicker and fleshier and increasingly wrinkled, thanks to the amniotic fluid. The skin will remain wrinkled for the first month or so after birth – just think about how your hands or feet look after you have been in the water for just 30 minutes! During this week, the brain continues its rapid growth, and the lungs continue to develop.

I had my 3+ hour glucose test yesterday. I should find out the results this week.

Well, I had my glucose screening on Tuesday and got the results today. The Doctor told me that my test results are highly abnormal. They have been concerned about gestational diabetes for over a month due to Anja's size. On Monday the 18th, I go in for a 3 or 4 hour screening to determine if I have GD or not.

In my gut, I think that the test will show that I do have it. We'll find out soon!
