Straggle from the Conception to Birth

The baby inhales and exhales, and the chin is no longer resting on the chest. At this point, all nourishment is from the placenta.

The liver begins secreting bile. By week 14, your baby is probably sucking his thumb regularly. Thumb sucking has been seen as early as 7 weeks.. Lanugo (fine hair) covers the body to protect the skin from the water.

Eyebrows and scalp hair are beginning to grow. Hearing is present as early as 14 weeks. The genitals may be well enough developed to be able to determine gender. The baby has reached 5 inches and weighs 3-4 ounces by the end of this month.

Fetal development week by week has important stages, where after 6th week the intestines, irises and joints begin to develop. This is the end of embryonic status within the different states of fetal development week by week, since the most important organs within a fetus’s body already begin to grow, along with the central nervous system.

After the 11th week, the embryo status changes to fetal status. It lasts exactly from 11th to 16th week in healthy pregnancies. In this period, the fetus is rapidly growing hair, vocal cords and it becomes possible to state its sex from developing genitals.

From 16th week to the 20th is very important period in different states of fetal development week by week. The baby grows rapidly, developing bones and fat under skin. Its heart is already pumping strong. Within all stages in fetal development week by week, and by time baby reaches 28th week, nostrils are forming and opening. Baby is able to open eyes and breathe, with fully formed organs, with the accent on developing lungs. Gaining fat in the last several weeks from 36th, it is gaining approximately 30 grams daily in weight, ready to leave the womb and face the world.

It is amazing the amount of growth and development that occurs in just a short 38 week period. Over nine months, a small, two-celled organism develops into a living, breathing human being.
