Breastfeeding, Health benefits for mother and baby
Breastfeeding:
Breastfeeding is the feeding of an infant or young child with breast milk directly from female human breasts (i.e., via lactation) rather than from a baby bottle or other container.
Babies have a sucking reflex that enables them to suck and swallow milk. It is recommended that mothers breastfeed for six months or more, without the addition of infant formula or solid food.
After the addition of solid food, mothers are advised to continue breastfeeding for at least a year, and can continue for two years or more. Human breast milk is the healthiest form of milk for babies.
Breastfeeding benefits for you and your baby:
Numerous studies from around the world have shown that stomach viruses, lower respiratory illnesses, ear infections, and meningitis occur less often in breastfed babies and are less severe when they do happen. Exclusive breastfeeding (meaning no solid food, formula, or water) for at least six months seems to offer the most protection.
One large study by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences showed that children who are breastfed have a 20 percent lower risk of dying between the ages of 28 days and 1 year than children who weren’t breastfed, with longer breastfeeding associated with lower risk.
How can you feed breast milk?
If the cleft is very small and in the soft palate only, the baby may be able to breastfeed. If the cleft is larger, it will be necessary to use a special technology to feed. Special bottles are made to feed babies with clefts. There is also the possibility of feeding the baby at your breast with a special tube system. To try this option, you will need expert help.
Even if your baby can’t breastfeed, your milk is extra important to him and healing his cleft, so pumping is well worth the work. Doing at least some feedings at the breast with a tube helps improve the baby’s tongue movements and can spread the palate. Another option for babies with cleft palate is very early repair, in the first week of life, which then allows them to breastfeed. Talk to your doctor to find out your options.
Breastfeeding is Good for Mom, Too
Health benefits to mothers who breastfeed are many, including reduced risk of some cancers, reduced risk of osteoporosis, faster return of the uterus to its prepregnant state, steady weight loss based on use of fat deposits laid down during pregnancy for early milk production, slower return of menses which can aid in natural child spacing, and a psychological sense of confidence as the mother provides completed nourishment for her baby.

How to Care for an Autistic Child
Autistic Child Care Tips:
Autism is a disorder of neural development characterized by impaired social interaction and communication, and by restricted and repetitive behavior.
These signs all begin before a child is three years old.
Autism affects information processing in the brain by altering how nerve cells and their synapses connect and organize; how this occurs is not well understood.
It is one of three recognized disorders in the autism spectrum (ASDs),
the other two being Asperger syndrome, which lacks delays in cognitive development and language,
and Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified (commonly abbreviated as PDD-NOS),
which is diagnosed when the full set of criteria for autism or Asperger syndrome are not met.

How to Choose Toys for Autistic Children
Toys for Autistic Children:
Engaging autistic children in play can be a lot more challenging than with non-autistic children.
In addition, play needs to reflect both enjoyment for the child, and assist development of specific personality traits and coping mechanisms.
Look for toys that stimulate their senses. Many children with autism have sensory challenges, particularly tactile defensiveness. Toys can be an excellent way to introduce tactile sensations in a low-key, non-threatening way.
They don’t have to wear, carry, eat (with the exception of children prone to pica), or listen to toys and that can be a very big bonus as they explore the items in their own way, and own time.
Choose toys that help social interaction development. Teaching all children cooperation through toys is an important rite of growing up. For autistic children, socially interactive toys are even more important for helping them to develop coping mechanisms when interacting with the wider world.
Can you recommend any specific brands and names of toys/games that may appeal to a 4 year old autistic girl who does not have much vocabulary?
How to Dress Your Newborn Baby?
Newborn baby care involves dressing your baby appropriately. This depends on the time of the year as well as the temperature inside your home. It is also essential to choose the appropriate newborn clothing.
Newborn care while dressing your baby:
- You should make sure that the clothes you provide for your newborn are large enough for easy dressing and also provide the child enough room for his or her environment.
- It would be best to look and purchase a baby dress that is larger than the baby’s age in months. If your baby is three months old, it is better to purchase baby clothes that are of six-month size.
- Wash the new clothes, before your baby wears the clothes, because new clothes may cause irritation to your baby’s skin.
- Launder the clothes with a special and safe detergent. Use the detergents that are specifically designed for babies.
Until your baby is about six months old, he or she will not have the ability to regulate his or her body temperature well. This means that infants can easily become too hot or too cold. It is your responsibility to keep your newborn warm and comfortable. Be careful not to overdress your newborn. Overheating can increase your baby’s risk of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).

How to Put on a Pocket Diaper
Pocket Diapers are a complete cloth diapering system.
Though very much like an All In One Cloth Diaper (AIO), pocket diapers are made up of three completely different layers.
The waterproof outer material is sewn to an inner “Stay Dry” material; together those two layers form a pocket that is stuffed with the third layer, an absorbent pocket diaper insert.
How to put on a prefold, a fitted, and a pocket diaper

Pocket diapers are a cinch to put on your baby. This step-by-step example will help you understand how easy it is to switch from disposables to cloth diapers.
How To Stimulate A Baby In The Womb
Baby Care, Before Birth
Every mother especially during her first pregnancy may not have a complete idea about how to stimulate their child. The first step to stimulation is communication that is talking to the baby every day. One should tell him or her about what is happening in the outside world.
One should only communicate happy and good things so that there is a healthy growth of the baby. In fact, a mother can also ask the baby to respond and the baby would try moving or kicking inside in response. These movements should be observed and felt properly so that you can identify in which direction it moves or kicks.
Ensure that it is not only the mother speaking with child but other members like father siblings and grandparents can also communicate with the child on a regular basis. This helps the child to be introduced to all the members he or she is going to meet in the outside world.
This is so un-Tree Hugger it makes you want to wave both hands in front of your face and say, “Wait, wait….you seriously think that’s a good idea??” Yep, it’s a strap-on device meant to entertain a baby while in the womb. The concept device designed by Ge of Ramsay is supposed to follow the idea that a baby will be smarter if they get some sort of stimulation while in the womb.
