Thought of the Developing of Hand – Eye Coordination of Your Child?

Did you know you can actually help to improve your child’s fine motor skills? Try engaging her in a few double-duty activities that are not only fun, but help develop essential skills for things such as writing, tying knots, and even sports.

Check out our look at activities and toys you may want to add to your tot’s playtime to strengthen her coordination.

Learn to Dress
You may be able to dress your little one in a flash, but letting her negotiate all those buttons, snaps, zippers, and laces does wonders for her fine motor skills.

In fact, most everyday activities such as eating breakfast and cleaning up toys helps kids to improve their fine motor skills, so resist the urge to take over.

To encourage Andrew’s hand-eye coordination we throw a ball to him that he then throws back.Although we still have to throw it exactly into his hands, he’s getting better. With Mairi we put things just out of her reach so she has to pick them up. Sometimes I point to things I want her to pass to me so she’ll try to get it.

There are many choices of writing instruments. There are triangle shaped crayons, rounded crayons, etc. Most children don’t need a special type of writing tool when beginning. A plain crayon will do. If your baby eats the crayon, try these colored pencils. They are chunkier so they feel more like a crayon but they can go in the mouth.

Constructing this model make is a great way of helping your child to develop their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills as they cut, decorate and stick a range of materials together to create the glowing fire fly. Encourage your child to be as imaginative as they like with the design and look of their firefly. The make is a bit tricky in places, so be on hand if they need some help.

By exposing your child to scribbling at a young age, you are helping to develop the hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, creativity and enjoyment that your child will need to be a writer in the future.
